Something isn’t adding up

She claims she was using disability while in college and then got a part time job she reported. When she was taken to court she didn’t have a lawyer so she was then ordered to pay back everything. This doesn’t make sense because you can work and receive disability. However she claims she only made $200 a month which wouldn’t be enough for her benefits to be reduced or taken completely. She also could’ve switched over to a trial work period and that would’ve saved her this mess. My guess is she’s lying about the amount she was making and it caught up with her. I feel like there’s gaps in her story for sure. I don’t know if anyone has received disability please elaborate on this.
