I've worked with involuntary psych patients for 15 years. AMA.
I'm a psych nurse. I've worked inpatient behavioral health, forensics (criminally insane) detox, ECT, high risk youth detention.
Everything you've seen on TV movies and horror video games/graphic novels about mental hospitals is ridiculous BUT the real thing is often even more ridiculous.
*** i cannot answer anything specific about any psych patient who is still alive or died less than 5 years ago, sorry.
*** please only post actual questions. not praise, not rants , just actual questions. i understand past present and future psych patients are overrepresented online and this very thread can be a trigger for you.
all i can offer is, if you were ever on my unit/ward/block, you wouldve been happy to see me show up for shift once you got to know me. Im the one who was respectful and showed up all the time with art supplies, new books , pizza on sunday and was generous with the nicotine gum. so be civil please. thanks!
