Air conditioner not air conditioning
In central Texas if this helps. Earlier this month our noticed our 1 1/2 year old AC unit would not cool our house down to 72 like our thermostat is set. In the afternoon it would get as high as 77 for a few hours and then come back down.
We called our AC folks and they determined that we were 4 pounds low on freon and need a new TXV. No leak could be found for the freon. We replaced both but 2 weeks later we noticed the same struggles with temperature. They came back and then determined that the evaporator coil was not working and likely hadn't been in a while so they replaced it yesterday. We were still having issues and got them to come back one last time before the day was over. Before the HVAC guy came, determined everything was ok, and left, he noted that his tools said that they read our unit as having 36 lbs of freon and after he released a bit that it had .1 lbs of freon. eventually the reading read the correct amount.
It's 77 degrees in our house again and the thermostat hasn't changed. We're so frustrated. Should we be asking for something specific? We have a 10 year warranty on our unit with this company but at this point its hard to even trust them when they say the unit is still safe to run.
Pictured is where the coil was replaced. Not sure if its helpful but thought I would add.
