Do garbanzo beans go well in Thai red or green curry with veggies & rice?

It seems like normally at Thai restaurants if I get red or green vegetable curry the usual combo is tofu, cauliflower, bell peppers, and maybe some other veggies idk, and rice.

But I saw a Thai frozen dinner in Whole Foods the other day and I was surprised to see it was made with garbanzo beans as a protein instead of tofu, which seemed weird to me. I had never seen it made that way at any of the Thai restaurants I had been to before. I don't remember the details but I thought it was a red or green curry frozen dinner.

Whether it's right or wrong, I just had the impression that garbanzo beans belong in Indian curry and not Thai curry, and that if you want a plant-based protein for Thai curry tofu is what you "should" use for a better food pairing.

Is that wrong? Do garbanzo beans pair equally as well as tofu does with Thai red/green curry?
