My Documents Corrupted on 4GB HDD, CHKDSK shuts down at Stage 1 100% Completion.

SOFTWARE

I have an older HDD which I use to store my photos and documents on, I noticed I couldnt access the documents folder, as it had a file size of zero and windows said it was corrupt. I could still access my pictures, but it wouldnt let me copy anything out of the folder.

Ran CHKDSK from reboot, ran for 17 hours for stage 1, got to 100% and the PC just shut down. Windows and most of my programs are on the SDD not the HDD. It is just used for file storage.

When I rebooted nothing appeared on the screen. I manually shut down and rebooted again, but CHKDSK tried running again, very quick in fact, but back at 98% and the time just keep climbing.

Assuming this crashes and shuts the PC down again, is there anyway to at least get the stuff of the my pictures folder on the drive? It woulnt let me copy to the other drive or usb in explorer. But I can open and view the pictures.

I can install a new drive, but I'd really like the pictures (and the docs) if there is any way.

Thank you for any assistance.
