What is a 2:1 degree and how is it calculated across institutions?

applications / ucas

Hi! Im currently applying to MBBS programs in the UK after finishing my undergraduate degree in Life Sciences in Canada. The thing is that I spent 2 years at a US uni and got a GPA of 3.5/4 and then spent 2 years at a Canadian uni (to finish my bachelors) and got a GPA of 2.98/4 (I know, it was rough ok :( ) however the gpa on my Canadian transcript does not account for the marks I earned at the U.S. institution. Hypothetically, for MBBS entry, would they combine my GPA? Also, do I meet the 2:1 requirement for degree holders? I can’t find one single answer for US/Canadian equivalency…

thanks!
