Android - youtube links (but not all times) open in in-app browser even though I have the app.

If i go to open a youtube video linked in a post, it opens the video in the youtube website in the reddit app (via chrome). However I have had the youtube app installed all the time. Is this intentional? All my other apps redirect to the app but not Reddit for some reason.

But I swear yesterday it opened correctly in the youtube app.
