Chance me for Korean universities (Biotech/Biomed Eng)

Education

I’m an international IB student (12th grade/DP2) applying for Spring 2027. Planning to major in Biotech or Biomed Engineering.

Applying to: Yonsei (Biotech), Korea Univ (Biotech), SNU (Biotech), KAIST (maybe Biomed/Bioeng), SKKU (Biotech/Biomed), and Hanyang (Biomed Eng).

Profile:

  • IB Diploma (predicted scores pending).
  • STEMCo Olympiad global finals at NUS Singapore.
  • Pre-Med program at Oxford.
  • Co-founder of an academic startup (FlashIB).
  • Harvard Model Congress (HMC)
  • Staff writer for STEM Magazine (STEM/biotech topics).
  • Online Courses (Coursera (Duke Uni), KMOOK (Hanyang))
  • Research: Extended Essay Psych, Bio IA.
  • Several Korean language courses, aiming TOPIK 4/5 by application.
  • Other: student parliament, tutoring, 10 years tennis, am also planning to apply for an internship program at a hospital.

Q/A:

  1. What are my realistic chances at SKY and others?
  2. Between KAIST, SKKU, and Hanyang, which are the best options for biotech/biomed?
  3. Any other universities in Korea worth considering for these majors?

Would really appreciate advice from people who’ve applied or studied in these programs.
