I just discovered that the root cause of my sensitivities could Infact be from mold

First of all, I live in a country where people don’t really care about air quality, so mold in homes is often ignored—especially by landlords, who just paint over it. Most people don’t realize or care about the dangers of mold exposure.

Years ago, I started developing sensitivities to certain objects in my house. The first things I reacted to were plastic toys—dolls, action figures, toy cars—anything plastic. To this day, I’m still sensitive to every type of toy, and of course, I panicked. I was devastated because I couldn’t even collect action figures anymore.

A few years later, my sensitivities expanded to include all types of glue, paint, lead/charcoal pencils, colored pencils, and more. The reaction always follows the same pattern: I feel confused, brain fog, my blood pressure drops, heart rate increases and I get a sore throat whenever I’m near these items. The symptoms don’t go away unless I remove myself from the allergen.

Strangely, no one else in my family has these issues, even though we all grew up around mold. This makes me think there’s something wrong with my immune system—maybe I have MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) as well? I also have a bit of inherited asthma, so I react to smokes as well.

My most recent sensitivity, which developed toward the end of last year, is to perfumes and any scented products. I had to tell my brother not to come near me when he had used (scented) aftershave, but of course, he got mad and accused me of being a hypochondriac or "too sensitive."

There really needs to be more awareness about the dangers of mold and MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity).

For years, I slept in a room with a moldy skylight, which might have triggered my perfume sensitivity. As for the mold itself, it’s in an unreachable place, so there’s no point in using that room anymore. I had to move to another one, but now I’m worried I might have carried mold spores with me into this room, I wiped everything down with alcohol, cleaned my duct tape with it as well and washed all my clothes and plush toys—but the moment someone wearing perfume comes near me, I still get dizzy and develop a debilitating sore throat that lasts for days, did people ever manage to reverse these sensitivities? I still have a mild pain on the left side of my throat due to being constantly exposed to perfume a week ago (people around me wore it) I'm also going through a fever because of a virus that was around totally unrelated to this.. so both my sensitivities and the sore throat from the virus are making it hard to eat.
