Seeking feedback on floral fruity musk blend
Hey all, just starting to learn perfumery and have made something at least half decent. I have a couple of questions, but here's the formula in ppt to start:
- Methyl ionone gamma coeur - 200
- Musk blend, consisting of the following (200 total):
- Ethylene brassylate - 100
- Helvetolide - 40
- Habanolide - 30
- Ambrettolide - 20
- Muscone laevo - 10
- Hedione - 160
- Iso E super - 130
- Gamma undecalactone - 100
- Simple rose accord, consisting of the following (160 total)
- PEA - 65
- Citronellol 98 - 55
- Geraniol ex Palmarosa - 40
- Bergamot - 20
- Raspberry Ripple (Fraterworks) - 20
- Cassis base 345B - 5
- Ambrofix - 3
- Cis-3-hexenol - 2
My intention is a mango and raspberry scent, with a bouquet of flowers in the heart, and a sticky, lipsticky, and musky drydown. I love the heart to the drydown, but I'm
My questions:
- I have some trouble with the top notes. I intended it to be green, but it's a bit savory; it's weird, the first few seconds, it smells like cracking open an uncooked cup of instant noodles (like the one Nissin makes). What could be causing this? Is it the C3H + cassis base + bergamot combo?
- I realize now, in hindsight, that the methyl ionone gamma coeur, the gamma undecalactone, and possibly the musks are dosed a bit high. They do smell good together though; I love the drydown. But am I right to second guess? Should I reduce them?
- If I do reduce those materials... what do I "fill" the blend with? Do I just bump up the hedione and iso e super, or am I thinking about this the wrong way?
- Any other feedback would be great!
Thanks in advance!
