Someone get me hyped on Crime & Punishment

A family member gifted it to me so I want to give it a shot! I generally like classics, but gravitate towards female authors (Edith Wharton, Charlotte Bronte, George Eliot, etc). As far as the Russians go, I've read Anna Karenina and enjoyed it, but it was a bit of a slog at certain points. I've also been on a contemporary kick recently, which is probably contributing to my lack of enthusiasm.
