Google Play thinks our game is the devil every time we push an update 😈

NSFWGame Dev

We make mobile game called Evil Apples (basically like that game Against Humanity, but on your phone...Yes, they know about us and we have an agreement to peacefully coexist with them). It’s supposed to be a dumb, disgusting card game not high art.

But every single time we push a code update, Google Play acts like we’ve triggered the decline of Western civilization.

Email subject line: “Community Standards Violation”
Me: “Welp, here we go again.”

The “violations” are never what you’d expect. It’s usually:

  • The same “bad content” they flagged 3 updates ago
  • User-generated submissions that we didn’t even write
  • Or the classic “Inappropriate text” with zero examples. Super helpful.

So then we’re stuck writing these ridiculous, overly formal letters like:

Eventually they approve it, but the cycle repeats. Update → scary letter → apology essay → approval → repeat.

Here's an actual example of a violation that recently came through:

Our Response:

Eventually, all of the content was cleared, but the longest back and forth (a 2 week battle) was about...

#10 Whale Vaginas! 😆

At this point, I’m convinced the “evil” in Evil Apples isn’t about the cards, it’s about fighting Google’s update process.

Is anyone else trapped in this violation hamster wheel, or are we the only ones?
