Anyone ever put a hitch cargo tray on a VB?

I’m pretty sure I’m getting a WRX VB soon, but I’m worried about storage space for the few times a year my wife and I (and dog) go camping. this would be our adventure car, so I need to be able to fit a cooler in or on it. Has anyone here tried using a hitch mounted cargo basket for their WRX? I don’t think loaded up cooler would do well on the roof, and I’m not sure I could get it in the seat with the dog in back too. and advice would be appreciated! I’m adding a photo I found with a crosstrek with a similar setup to what I’m thinking.
