Would someone who had never been introduced to strong flavours hate them?

So I was having a conversation recently, if you gave someone with a restricted palate and introduced them to a strong flavour would they revel because they’ve not tasted something like that before? or would they find it disgusting because it’s so unfamiliar?

Like if you time traveled to meet a medieval peasant and gave them a mild curry or a liquorish etc. would that blow their minds or would they find it disgusting?
