AIS (adenocarcinoma in situ) + CIN-2 seven months post LEEP
I had my LEEP on December 5 after a colposcopy biopsy showed severe dysplasia and CIN-3, but the biopsies of the tissue they removed from the LEEP only showed mild dysplasia and CIN-1. My 6-month follow up pap I had in July was abnormal again, and the colposcopy biopsy showed moderate dysplasia, CIN-2, and endocervical adenocarcinoma in situ. My doctor is referring me to a gynecologist oncologist to do a conization and then a hysterectomy (I think they just want to know how invasive of a hysterectomy is needed and if lymph nodes need to be taken and if radiation is also needed).
This is all just making me really really sad. I’m happy to have a hysterectomy, but I’m wondering if we should have already been talking about this last year. I’m also talking to other women who went through the same thing and doing a lot of reading and I’m becoming very discouraged about how well paps and colposcopies are at catching these cell changes. Does anyone have thoughts on that?
