Internet Cancellation
I called Rogers on August 13 to cancel my recently purchased internet package within the cancellation period due to poor service. It was agreed that the Internet would be cancelled on August 31 but, as of September 2, it is still active. I have a recording of the call (because the support person I was speaking with was being quite sus trying force me beyond my cancellation window so that I had to pay fees). I don't appear to have received any email confirmation of the cancellation though. Before I contact Rogers to argue my case, does anyone have experience with this issue/or have any advice as I'm reading Rogers are being difficult with cancellations just now due to the volume they're receiving.
FYI, ChatGPT has given me the following recommendations for next steps:
Call Rogers again and ask for confirmation of your cancellation in writing.
Note the time/date of the call and the rep’s name.
Request a cancellation confirmation number.
If they refuse or stall, tell them you will file a complaint with the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS).
The CCTS is an independent, free ombudsman that resolves billing/cancellation disputes with Rogers and other telecoms.
Complaints can be filed online.
If they bill you beyond Aug 31, dispute the charge immediately with Rogers. If unresolved, escalate through CCTS.
