Recommendations on coax and a splitter

Hi. I just picked up an Antennas Direct ClearStream MAX-V. We only live 8 miles or so from major antennas I was planning on putting it in the attic connected to a splitter to a Tablo Dvr and 2 TVs. Any recommendations on a good splitter. Do I need to dampen the signal? And what coaxial cable would you recommend And where to buy it from? I was thinking RG6 not quad or copper core and grabbing it from Home Depot but putting my own compression fittings on. Thanks for any suggestions.
