Can’t play with friends

The other day my brother and I got back into this game after years. He joined my lobby and we had a great time starting from scratch and I am addicted again.

Today, he tried joining my lobby and got a version mismatch error. Steam forced me to update, but he his playing through Xbox and had no update. Any ideas on how to fix this?
