Moved to the mountains, need an offroad/towing capable vehicle

Moved to the mountains and my 16 Fiesta ST isn't cutting it anymore. I need a vehicle that's capable offroad and in snow.

I primarily need something with 4WD, AWD will work in a pinch. I'm in the backcountry a lot and will actually use the 4WD.

I realize nothing in this segment will be as fun as my Fiesta ST but I'd like something with a bit of power.

Manual transmission would be nice but I realize this is virtually impossible when shopping new.

Need a tow hitch for a small trailer, the actual tow rating isn't that important, not gonna be hauling around a boat or anything.

The ability to sleep in the vehicle would be a huge plus.

Couldn't care less about tech, driver aides, or luxuries.

Under $30k

I'm looking at Rangers, Colorados, and Frontiers. Tacomas would be nice but are consistently the most expensive out of the three. Usually base model configurations of these trucks, but with 4WD. I wish they had barebones offroad packages, I can't afford a Ranger Raptor but would love a base Ranger with the Raptor's offroad capabilities.

Also looking at the Wilderness trim on Outbacks and Crosstreks. I like the Crosstrek more, but since the Wilderness trim is newer, it's hard to find a used one for under $30k. The Outback is more SUV than I'll ever need, but Wilderness trims with like 50k miles look pretty enticing. Unfortunately these don't come standard with tow hitches, and I don't want to fuck up the frame by going aftermarket.

Lastly, Mavericks. Their offroad capabilities don't really impress me, neither does the idea of a unibody truck or the tiny bed, but they're good deals and would satisfy most of my needs. They're also ugly as sin.

Part of me just wants to keep the Fiesta and spend $5k on a Cherokee XJ for my offroad needs, but I don't have the time to maintain a 30 year old vehicle anymore and would rather stick to one car in case I need to move again.

Am I missing any considerations that meet my standards?
