Why is it so hard to find a crush as an adult?

It’s been a year and a half since the breakup and I haven’t been able to see anyone in the way I see my ex. There would be guys that gave me attention but I wasn’t really attracted. There was this one guy at work who was really sweet but we only interacted professionally via email so it was a very weak crush. I just want someone else to think about.
