Help me understand extra contractor charges?
I requested a quote to fully remodel my entire bathroom earlier this year. Cost for electrical work originally came in at $3k, but included a note about installing a new bathroom fan. We didn’t need the fan, so I asked them to remove. I did note we wanted to add an outlet for bidet. The contractor agreed and said he would remove the fan, add the bidet outlet, and sent a new quote for $2800 for electrical.
Now the electrician has come thru and done his walk through. I just received the updated invoice for electrical from my GC (so not the actual electrician’s invoice) and it is $3300. Everything is the same except a note that says “$500 additional labor to run new circuits down plumbing Chase from second floor to basement and then over to make panel connection”
I want to understand if that additional $500 (which is actually an additional $600) is just for the bidet outlet, even though the bidet outlet was included in the original quote of $2800.
I don’t want to piss off my contractor because I like them so far and I have asked a number of questions, but in between when I received this quote and the work starting, I was laid off from work, so of course money is very tight.
Can anyone tell me if this sounds reasonable and correct? Is it correct that it would be considered improper to ask for the actual electricians invoice? Link to quote details: https://imgur.com/gallery/quote-AWPaKRs
