Raspberry PI 5 NAS with nvme

Hi,

I’m thinking about building a sort of NAS/PI station to keep some files there as I have several devices that I’d like to stream music and video to.

Don’t really care about solutions as I’ll figure them out on my own but I just want to have a headless raspbian that I can ssh into and some storage like 500gb or 1tb.

My question is: does it make sense to have my OS on sd card and have nvme as a storage or should I just go fully nvme for speed. Will it have big impact and also if I go fully nvme can I use sd card as an extra storage?

I am not sure how well pi handles partitioning to create a root partition with let’s say 100gb and rest for media files
