Bathroom double sink cabinet on legs?

We don't want to fully renovate the bathroom yet but the current sink cabinet is very outdated. We would love to put in one with a double sink but I have a couple of concerns about it.

1. We would love to avoid hanging it on the wall but most models that I can find seem to be the 'floating' type. Does anybody have experience with the ikea cabinets combined with legs? Do you still need to drill for them or can the legs completely support them?

2. Assuming we use a cabinet like that, could we get away with a splitter for the water and drain instead of connecting them separately to the main supply?
