DMV question

I only have a learner's right now, and have to go get a new one today in just a little bit. I have my expired permit with my current address, and mail to confirm address. However, I seem to have misplaced my birth certificate and social security card. Bad, I know.

Do I need these documents if I already have a permit, albeit expired, that confirms my identity?
