Coworkers make way too big a deal out of everything and get mad when I just don’t care…
Everything can be fixed. Maybe not as quick as you might want. But that is life.
For example, we have a new employee who cannot get logged in. I’ve done what I can to help her. But I am not IT. Nor am I a boss of any kind. I am just the service rep.
They are both uber stressed out. They keep asking me questions about it. Like how the hell should I know? Our boss will be in soon. She will get here and help. Calm down.
If our systems are down, they flip out. I don’t. They get irritated that I’m so nonchalant about it. “Well what if customers need something? What if it’s urgent?”
First of all, our customer’s idea of what is “urgent” is rarely urgent. And if it is, it’s because they procrastinated.
Second, if systems are down they’re down. Until the outage is fixed, people are just going to have to wait? Why are y’all freaking out? This isn’t our fault.
I handle everything calmly and one thing at a time. I know what my limits are, and I set boundaries. They hate this for some reason.
