My brain isn't linking long term and success together, but only short rewards?

Discussion

reward and effort are kind of not linked in my mind to eachother? Like for example, my brain doesn't link me working the whole month with getting salary .. doesn't link doing what I should be doing on a daily matter: cleaning, doing chores, eating well, errands with the reward of happiness and health .. it only understands short term rewards and "shortcuts"

Like if I order food now then I get food now and enjoy.

If I do this sexual thing then I get the reward.

But once things are in the future, takes planning, etc .. the image gets "more blurry" and I only seem to understand the commutation of success on an intellectual level but not an emotional level. It's odd because everyone who knows me would say I am smart or intelligent or whatever but I don't seem to be able to understand that

Anyone feels like this? Is that an ADHD thing? How to improve it?

PS: short term rewards work really good, like if I tell myself that I will do this and for that, I will reward you with XYZ then I feel more motivated .. I did that couple times but haven't tried it before consistently
