Is this real?
Hey besties, I know there's dozens of posts just like this but I've recently had an "egg crack" moment and I'm unsure how to tell if what I'm feeling is real or not. For context I'm 28 M(tf?) and about 2 weeks ago the thought of transitioning entered my mind seemingly out of nowhere and has barely left for a moment since. Technically speaking this is far from the first time I've questioned my gender identity but every time previously I've been able to dismiss it or tell myself I'll deal with it later if it comes up again after no more than a few days. I have struggled with depression and anxiety for years but this feels different? The thought of transitioning doesn't depress me and it's not an anxiety spiral because aside from knowing how hard the process will be I don't feel anxious about it. I also thought it may have been an intrusive thought, as I have had those previously but the techniques I've learnt from therapy have been ineffective, and again it feels different because it isn't causing me any distress. I've told two of my friends who have been incredibly supportive, one even gave me clothes she was going to donate to charity and when I tried them on I felt... good. But on the other side, this has come on very suddenly after quite a bad time in my life. I also don't think I "feel" like a woman, although admittedly I have never really "felt" like a man. My perspective on being a man has always been that this is just something I have to accept whether I like it or not, which apparently is not how cis men typically feel? I guess I want somebody or something to tell me who or what I am, but I know that this is a personal journey and only I can tell myself that. That being said if any of you think you can tell decisively one way or the other from this, please do let me know.
