Q for the non-Brits re: Lauren's, uh, lexicon

Was anyone else as tripped out as I was when Lauren used "tret" repeatedly as the past tense of treat?

And I say this as an American who not only consumes an absolute ton of British media, but I also lived and worked in England in two occasions for a combined year and a half.

I would rewind and look at my captions like tret?

Well, I googled so you don't have to. Apparently it was acceptable as Middle English so it's been technically obsolete/incorrect since like the 16th century but still spoken in Northern England.

But Good Lord, it's hard to hear.
