Body Dryers

Years back when I was in college our gym locker room had open showers - Bradley poles, however towels were not provided although guys could obviously bring their own if they wanted to. They did however have this "body dryers" right next to the shower room basically the same thing as hand dryers although larger and higher up, I guess this was considered easier and more cost efficient than having to provide towels. The cool thing about it was no towels = more guys walking back and forth to the showers naked - very liberating. My question is why are these body dryers not more common? This is the only place I have ever seen those. I've been to many gyms even YMCAs since then and have never seen these.
