Part 1 Hotel Basement

First time playing TLOU and reached this one section of the game that I have heard so many people talk about. I wanted to know, without any major spoilers if it was worth it to throughly explore this area. Im particularly interested to know if there are a lot of collectibles in the area.

Is exploring and fighting the infected in these section worth it or should I save my resources. Playing on hard btw.
