HELP what do i do with 2 million Frutflies + do yall freeze oldest cups?
Yaaallll im bringing my ranitomeya home this saturday, September 6th. Theres going to be TWO. TWO small frogs. August 21st, I bought 2 small boxes of melanogaster fruitflies. I distributed a bunch of those flies into 4 more cups, leaving me with 6. Until yesterday, the flies were easy to contain, not much was happening. And today, on the 12th day, the larvae boomed and there are MILLIONS. I planned to make more cups today, so I made 6 more. My two ranitomeya now have 12 cups of fruitflies waiting. This is obviously better than my culture failing… but its so many😅
Will i have to freeze some? What do yall do with the oldest fruitflies that are impossible to tap out of the cup? I will never be able to tap out all of them so do i then freeze the residue and then clean it? There will always be some larvae left in the cups and after a while, it’ll be a dirty environment.. What do yall do please haha thank you
