Keeper/Tainted keeper boss challenge rooms

Do you guys self-damage to do the boss challenge rooms?

I usually do, more items = better and if I die then skill issue, right?

I had the most absurd start to a tainted keeper run, I'm talking spindown dice in a treasure room on downpour 1 followed by crickets head, magic mush, and r key in my next shop, but I pushed my luck on ashpit for rock bottom (it's rock bottom cmon) and died to clutch. I hate that fucking guy.
