From adverse credit to getting a mortgage
Recently and unexpectedly came into some inheritance which is the only time in my life I will ever have a deposit for somewhere to buy of my own having lived month to month since I was 18 (now 35).
I’ve cleared my outstanding debts that I owe out to which also included 2 ccj’s which now are settled in full. I’m left with cash in savings (£33k) that would easily cover a 20% deposit for the area I live in (South Wales) for a nice apartment or small house. I earn roughly 35k a year give or take 2k on average.
Would anybody have any idea realistically from experience if I would be looking at actually being offered a mortgage over the next few years now I’m debt free?
I do have an appointment coming up with a whole of market broker who will be able to offer me the best advice but wondering if anyone has experience of going from a sticky situation to being a first time buyer on their mid 30s.
PS - I didn’t come here to be questioned or lectured on getting myself into debt when younger. It happens.
