NBCMI oral exam is structured to fail you

I paid $300 to take the NBCMI oral exam and the whole experience felt like it was structured for candidates to fail. The recordings play too fast, you cannot replay them, and if you miss a word or phrase you’re automatically at a disadvantage. This does not reflect real-life medical interpreting, where clarification is possible.

On top of that, if you forget something as simple as your admission letter, they make you come back another day — and yes, pay another $300. It feels very convenient for them financially when people fail or make minor mistakes. The process does not feel supportive, and I would strongly caution others to think carefully before paying for this exam.”
