Someone Make Sense of This

Guys and Gals of this Esteemed subreddit. I need your insight as for my situation.

Im currently second year of college. Few days ago, I was sitting in the cafeteria with my friend and I saw a girl whom I genuinely found really cute and I developed a crush on her? Anyways, I was just minding my business but I observed that she was sitting all alone for over an hour and looking really sad.

So I decided to approach her, and that I did. Now im not really good at talking with strangers and I consider myself to be awkward in this "cold approach" tactic.

Anyways, I initially politely asked her whether I could sit in front of her and then I asked her whether everything is alright with her. She said yes, but to reaffirm I just bluntly told her that she looked really sad so I came up to check on her. She said everything is fine and that shes just "skipping a class". We started conversing and I found out she's a fresher, we told each other our names. After that I started blanking as to what I should even talk about.

So I just texted my friend quickly to get me out of that situation. He instantly came and came up with an excuse that "Bro lets go X professor is calling you". Anyways so I quickly left the café and while leaving i said a casual bye to her.

Now coming back to today, after about 4 days since this incident, I was just going to a class of mine on the campus, and I happened to run into her. I was in a rush, and I had not expected to meet her, so I was once again blanked. But when we crossed each other's path, we did in fact maintain eye contact and she smiled first! Just said a quick Hello, and went on our ways.

Keeping all this in mind, am I just in delulu or is there an actual possibility over here?
