My problem with Mabe, and looking for new recommendations

I’ve had a few carriers- Baby Bjorn (terrible, sold it), and happy baby that I really only like for back carrying, wraps, and now for 5 months my primary carrier has been my Mabe.

I have a chunky baby. He’s 5 months old and 20ish pounds. I’ve found that recently when I bend forward in the Mabe, the side straps slide and loosen. I hang onto him obviously, but if I didn’t I could see where this could be a major safety issue with babies falling out. I posted about it in a Mabe community and a couple others said they had the same experience. I’ve emailed Mabe about the issue and am waiting for a resolution.

That being said- I’m looking for new carrier suggestions. I’ll be honest- I care a lot about the aesthetics, which is what drew me to Mabe. But I care about safety more. I don’t care about world facing much. I don’t want something bulky. I would love cross straps, as that’s the reason I’m not a fan of my Happy Baby carrier- I find it difficult to put on. Can anyone suggest some? I’m heavily considering going with Artipoppe, but I don’t love the idea of spending so much. Suggestions welcome!!
