Will PayPal refund unauthorized transfers?
My wife’s PayPal unfortunately got hacked and the thief managed to add their address, Chime card and changed the password to the account. About $850 was transferred out from her PayPal balance in various amounts to different recipients. As soon as she saw the balance in her account, she panicked and broke down in tears.
So far, we managed to contact PayPal support and gone through verification to confirm her identity so she managed to reset her password. We also told the agent about the address and card that she does not recognize so those were removed. And we’ve selected all the transactions that were not made by her and have opened up a case to file for a dispute. But she’s now feeling anxious because she’s worried the funds won’t be returned.
I’ve also double checked all the settings in her account and turned on two step verification. I don’t know what else I can do besides wait and hope they’ll refund her money. Even after doing all that, we received 3 more notifications today that her debit card transactions have been declined because it’s already been blocked after we filed for a dispute. The scammer / thief is really relentless.
Has anyone ever been in this situation and gotten a favorable response back from PayPal?
