Stereoscope for sample prep, surgery, misc
Looking to buy a new stereoscope for the lab. Have mostly used Olympus SZ61 with trinoc. Before I blindly ;) order the same again, I'd be curious to hear what others might recommend?
I use an articulating arm stand. I plan to add a camera, primarily for documentation purposes, but occasionally for teaching a procedure (connected to a monitor).
I've seen quite a few Zeiss Stemi 508 in other labs - from a wee bit of reading, seems the optics ought to be better vs SZ61? But it's heavier at 6.5 kg.
Olympus offers the SZX7, at almost 2x the cost of the SZ61. Image quality should be better in theory. Possibly less depth perception? It's modular, meaning I could add filters, etc. later - probably too heavy then for my primary use case, but I could transfer it to a normal stand for looking at slides, etc.
I've seen some from Leica in use, but I don't know what models?
All feedback is welcome!
