Reporting Drug dealers..

Just recently picked my daughter up from a week in hospital after a drug overdose. The drugs were possibly tainted with fentanyl or xylazine. She told me who she got the drugs from. I am contemplating reporting this person to the police. I’ve discussed it with a few people and somehow have said that it’s a waste of time that police don’t usually investigate further if it only what they consider a small time dealer, they are looking to get big dealers or whole drug networks. Is this true? My thoughts are that this person could be part of a big drug network
