An investing expert has highlighted how social casinos are finally acknowledging the rise of sweepstakes casinos as a real competitive threat.

📌 Key Points:

\- Social casino giants like Light & Wonder (SciPlay) used to deny any impact from sweeps.

\- Now, executives admit sweeps casinos are cutting into revenues – SciPlay’s Q2 revenue fell to $200M (from $204M in Q1).

\- Why? Sweeps casinos (like Chumba, Modo, McLuck) offer the same games as social casinos – but with real-money cashout potential.

📌 The Strategic PR Move

\- Analysts believe the cannibalization is real, but also a PR strategy.

\- By publicly pointing to sweeps as the “enemy,” companies like Light & Wonder strengthen their case for bans like California’s AB831.

\- In states that ban sweeps, social casinos report higher revenue again.

📌 Expanding the Market

\- Sweeps casinos are not just stealing players – they’re expanding the market.

\- They attract a younger, more male audience (similar to sports bettors and poker players).

\- Community features (Discord, Telegram, tournaments, leaderboards) create real engagement and belonging, something traditional social casinos lack.

📌 What’s Next

\- Even social casino companies like PLAYSTUDIOS are joining the sweeps industry.

\- The battle is no longer about “entertainment vs. gambling” – it’s about who controls the future of online casino gaming in the U.S.

💬 Do you think social casinos are genuinely worried, or is this just a smart lobbying move to push for more bans on sweeps?
