My dogs lick other dogs pee

I think the title explains itself. I have two little long-haired Chihuahuas, they both come from the same breeder, so it’s interesting that both of them have an obsession with licking other dogs pee. I asked the vet about it, fully expecting to get a different response. He pretty much gave me a nerdy veterinarian response of “it’s a very respectable form of communication in the animal kingdom in getting information on other animals. It’s like sniffing butts, but more informative”. Has anyone else experienced this with their dogs?

Every day is a battle with the Pee for me and I’m hoping somebody has some experience and insight so that I can stop battling with the pee. We do our best to prevent it, but their noses seem to constantly find spots that dogs have peed in, and they lick it. And if they see a dog pee, then it’s like a race for first place for them in trying to quickly get to the spot that the dog peed in. And if we walk away and come back, they remember the spot and go straight for it.
