The "it will happen to everyone sooner or later" fallacy
After seeing another video of someone wheelieing 65 mph into a car on a busy city street in a 30 zone and reading all the supportive comments stating this can inevitably happen to every one of us, I just want to clarify - what exactly do these people think it is that can happen to anyone of is? Wheelieing 65 mph into a car on a busy city street in a 30 zone? No. Hell no. No it cannot happen to me. And you know why? You know why. Everyone is absolutely in control of if this can or cannot happen to them.
Now other things can happen, yes, some other things can happen to every one of us which are not entirely under our control. But what actually grinds my gears is this, with this "will happen anyway" attitude, stupid people take piss on safe riding, gear, traffic law etc. It's just like the creationist nihilism, if god is in control and the armaggedon will come anyway, what the fuck would anyone have to save a panda or care about the deforestation, right? But the minute you let go of stupid ideology and thought-stopping cliches, you start to realize that you can control the bigger part of it all.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
