I broke up with my boyfriend because he didn’t love me the way I wanted to be loved, and we often couldn’t meet halfway.

Problem/goal: Tama ba ‘yong ginawa ko?

Context:

So… we were together for almost 5 years. But to be honest, the first 2 years weren’t that serious 'cause we were just high school sweethearts back then.

Lately, I’ve been thinking… did I make the right choice breaking up with him? Just because he didn’t love me the way I wanted to be loved? Like, don’t get me wrong—he really took care of me and showed effort. That’s his love language. He shows love by doing things and being there.

But umpisa pa lang, I always told him na —my love language is words. I need to hear that I’m loved. I need affirmations. Isa pa, we always had a hard time meeting halfway, even with small decisions. I don’t know… he always wanted to prove something, so it was hard for him to listen or accept what I wanted to say.

Na offend din ako kasi sa sobrang dissenting ng opinion and ideas namin, nagtatalo narin kami kahit saan, public, man or private, and even sa harap ng family ko. We just didn’t agree on so many things.

But to be fair, when it comes to love, care, and loyalty—he never failed. He was super faithful. It’s just… I started asking myself: what about me? What about us in the long run, if we can’t even agree on small things? ( Na open up ko na sakanya lahat lahat, and paulit ulit ko namg sinasabi pero wala parin pag babago :(( )

Tama ba ginawa ko? anong dapat kong gawin?
