Self-Directed Account Apparently $1,000 in the negative

I opened my account this summer, started pouring some money into stocks I liked, blah blah blah. Fees hit today, totaling $9 and I deposited $10 to cover it - didn’t previously know about the fees on my self-directed one but whatever. I deposited the fee money, then go back to check my buying power and now it says I owe $1,009. Is this a glitch, or do I actually owe these people most of the money I’ve invested thus far??? I’m fuckin reeling over this rn what is going on
