Healthcare for newborn

Is there a way to sign my baby up for Medicaid before he is born? I am currently on my parents insurance and do not need it myself, however my child will be need to be put on Medicaid. Do I have to wait until he is born to get him insurance? I’m worried that the process will take too long after he is born and he will not be covered for his newborn appointments.
