Tale as old as time - vent post

Grimey ass, 30 year old musician who degrades and abuses every femme person around them and then builds their brand around “inclusivity, transparency, and calling out corruption”

My ex room/bandmate recently rebranded the band I quit last year. I’m partly grateful they’ve finally stopped using feminist history to prop up their band (previously named “gossip”), but I’m mostly pissed off about the bullshit announcement left on Instagram about how they’ve had ambiguous issues with getting dropped from shows “with no details provided” and how they’ve “especially had problems with ex members”.

They end the Instagram announcement with a note that they “gladly invite anyone with concerns to have an open dialogue with the band”.

That “open dialogue” you’re looking for?

• Remember when you told your band mate that you didn’t care her girlfriend was assaulted by your friend in your bed?

• Or the time you got all of us dropped from an international festival and when I asked why we got dropped, you kept changing your answers to avoid admitting it’s because you fucking abuse people?

• Or the time you called our roommate a “lil hoe” for asking to sleep with you, meanwhile you were actively grooming the newest band member almost ten years younger than you to sleep with you instead?

• How about you telling femme people they’re TRANSPHOBIC because they aren’t having enough sex with you???

The list could go on but can we have an honest dialogue about any of that???? I doubt it, because I already tried to!!!!!! And what did you do? You dismissed me, outright ignored me, threw my own words back at me calling me manipulative, and then kicked me out of my home and told everyone who would listen that I’m insane. Unfortunately for you, I am actually a little insane. So I hope you’re secretly terrified of the unknowable amounts of rage I still feel towards you.

MY silver lining in all this, you clearly can’t get any local work and moved to touring, I’m assuming because nobody local wants to entertain whatever bullshit you bring to the table anymore. You then change your band name! Hoping Gossip’s sins won’t continue to follow you, you even said it in the announcement that you hope gossips reputation could be separate from this new image you’ve made. But Tyler, you ARE gossips reputation. And everywhere you go, there you are, along with your shitty riff salads.
