First-Of-Three-

Fear of missing out

I was thinking last night, perhaps one of the most painful things about being an adult virgin is the fear of missing out. Or basically not getting to experience the normal things people experience in life related to dating and sex and just having memories from your youth that will stick with you forever.

At 31, I already missed out. So I am past the FOMO phase. Now I am in salvage mode. Trying to stop the snowball effect of being a lifetime loser with the other sex.

Sometimes I wake up in the morning and I start to panic. All I can think of is holy crap you need to turn things around like right now. I was watching a dating coach on youtube and he interviews people sometimes. Just guys that are fans and come on his show. There were a few guys in their late 20's or early 30's that were virgins. His advice to all of them was that every waking moment of their time needs to be spent on finding a partner. From when they wake up in the morning to when they go to bed this should be their first priority. Download all the dating apps, go to speed dating events, approach people on the street. He said the idea of waiting to meet someone organically is never going to happen in this day and age. All of these guys were pretty below average looking and he was very blunt saying that if they want a partner, they are going to have to claw and fight there way through the dating market to find someone.

But I do not have the social battery to do that. I am never going to walk up to a woman on the street or when I am out and about and strike up a conversation. I can barely look people in the eyes for extended periods of time, let alone have the courage to walk up to someone. All I have is this stupid dating app and swiping on hundreds of people hoping someone will match with me.

I am way past FOMO. I already missed out.
