First browser/dnf request often fails, retry sometimes works

Support

I recently dual booted fedora with windows, and most of the time when I load a page in Firefox/Brave or run something like `dnf upgrade' in the terminal, the first attempt fails instantly with “something went wrong, try again.” or `Curl error (6): Could not resolve hostname for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-42&arch=x86_64`

If I retry, it sometimes works intsantly, but not always.

This issue happens mostly with WhatsApp Web but also with random websites. Everything works fine on MX Linux and Mint (on another laptop) and on Windows on the same device.

The problem only happens on my Wifi, I used my phone's hotspot and it works fine.

What I’ve tried:

  • Changed DNS to Google then cloudflare's but it didn't solve anything.
  • Disabled IPv6.
  • Adjusted MTU (1400)
  • WiFi card is Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 (driver: ath10k_pci)

System Specs:

  • OS: Fedora Linux 42 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition) x86_64
  • Kernel: Linux 6.16.3-200.fc42.x86_64
  • WM: KWin (Wayland)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-8250U (8) @ 3.40 GHz
  • GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620 [Integrated]
  • Memory: 19.31 GiB

I really like Fedora and this could be the end of my distro hopping if it weren’t for this issue. Any help in this matter is much appreciated.

Thanks.
