What was the diagnosis process like for you?

Diagnosis

It seems so weird to me that there doesn't seem to be a standard for getting diagnosed. I've seen so many stories of people needing to dig up old report cards, interviews with their parents, several appointments, elaborate tests, and months long process. I spent maybe an hour answering questions about what I was struggling with and a little bit about my childhood and she just seemed to take my word for it. At the end she was just like 'yeo, you got ADHD, let me write you a prescription'. It was actually really similar to those questionnaires they ask you about depression and anxiety, except longer. Which on one hand, I was super grateful it wasnt a long, drawn out process. But on the other hand, I feel like it would have been so easy to "fake" since I knew the "right" answers. Which obviously I didn't do but Imposter Syndrome is an SOB.

So I'm just wondering what everyone else's experience was like and if I had an unusually lax doctor or if others just had an unusually difficult time.
