How to learn the blues?

I want to learn how to play blues piano so bad! My local bar holds blues jams every week and I want to go play and be able to hold my own. I'm classically trained and have minimal experience with improvising. I don't know of any local blues teachers but I've been learning from youtube. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or ways to learn blues piano?
